May is "Foot Health Month"
May is nationally recognized as Foot Health Month.
From your first step, having healthy feet is important. You only have one pair of feet to last a lifetime!
Important foot care tips and reminders:
Inspect your feet daily for any changes
Trim toenails straight across, not down into the corners
Check your feet daily for dry and cracked skin, blisters, bruises, cuts or sores especially if you have diabetes
Pamper your feet. Always keep them warm, clean and dry
Comfort is key. Shop for shoes midday when feet are swollen to ensure they fit properly at all times. Never buy shoes that are too tight and wait for them to stretch
Ensure your shoes are the right length and width for your feet
Be aware of your footwear and pick the shoe you need (running shoe for running, cross-training shoe for general activities)
Sandals should have adequate support
Inspect your shoes carefully for signs of wear
Keep moving! Keep blood circulation to your feet
If you have any questions or concerns about your feet, don't hesitate to get them checked out!
